About Used Storage Tanks, Pressure Vessels & Fermenters
Storage and containment vessels are common second-hand purchases for chemical plants, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and food processors scaling up or refitting production lines. SIGMA Process Equipment holds a rotating stock of used storage tanks and pressure vessels alongside used fermenters for industrial biotech and fermentation applications.
Every vessel is inspected before listing — weld integrity, nozzle condition, shell thickness (where available), and jacket or coil pressure test history are included in the condition report provided with each quote.
Storage Tanks & Pressure Vessels
- Used stainless steel tanks — SS 304 and SS 316L, from small 100-gallon mixing vessels to large-capacity bulk storage.
- Used jacketed tanks — heating/cooling jackets for temperature-controlled chemical and pharmaceutical processes.
- Used cone-bottom tanks — conical outlet design for complete drainage; common in chemical and food applications.
- Used pressure vessels — ASME-rated vessels for compressed gas, cryogenic fluids, and high-pressure process service.
- Used air receivers — industrial compressed-air storage vessels in various capacities.
Industrial Fermenters
Our used fermenter stock covers stainless steel fermentation vessels used in pharmaceutical API production, enzyme and amino acid fermentation, and industrial biotechnology. All units are SS 304 or SS 316L construction with agitator, sparger, and instrumentation ports. We do not carry homebrew or pilot-scale fermenters — minimum working volume is typically 200 L.
What to Check When Buying a Used Tank or Vessel
Key points: shell material and grade (SS 304 vs 316L vs Hastelloy), working pressure and temperature rating, jacket or coil integrity, nozzle sizes and orientations, and whether any WPS/PED documentation accompanies the vessel. We include all available documentation in every quote — contact us via the form below.
